CompliMind is building the operating system for compliance in regulated infrastructure, starting with the NHS estate and expanding into the safety-critical places that keep the country running such as hospitals, prisons, transport hubs, universities, government buildings.

Right now, the work that keeps these buildings safe is fragmented and slow. Evidence sits across PDFs, shared drives and inboxes. Standards run to thousands of pages. Estates and facilities teams, the people responsible for occupant safety, welfare and security, spend too much time finding the right guidance and proving what they have done, instead of running their buildings.

We are changing that with an AI-native platform that brings search, evidence, workflow and assurance into one place, with traceable regulatory grounding built in. NHS Trusts already pay for CompliMind, and hundreds of users rely on it daily in live environments.

We are a ~10-person, high-calibre team based in Cambridge and London, backed by top-tier investors. Both co-founders are Cambridge PhDs. We recently joined the NHS Innovation Accelerator (2026 cohort). The next 12 months are about taking what works in one vertical and scaling it into new segments. About the Role

As a Founding Engineer at CompliMind, you'll own problems end-to-end, from understanding how hospital teams actually work, to designing systems, to shipping and iterating in production. Much of the work won't come with predefined specs; the core challenge is deciding what should exist and making it real. You will:

• Build agentic AI workflows, integrating foundation models with agentic frameworks to deliver intelligent, impactful product features that hold up in production.
• Lead backend development with a focus on scalability and performance, designing clean, well-structured systems in Python and FastAPI.
• Architect and maintain robust data and infrastructure beneath the platform with PostgreSQL, optimising for data access, integrity and security.
• Drive DevOps practices such as CI/CD workflows, deployments on Azure, and high availability and reliability.
• Influence product direction, participating actively in the decisions that shape how the platform evolves.
• Enhance the front-end experience, creating responsive and intuitive interfaces with React, ensuring a seamless user journey.

What You'll Bring

• A founding mindset. You're a self-starter who takes ownership, builds from scratch and iterates quickly. You like getting your hands dirty and have a proactive, entrepreneurial spirit.
• Strong Python backend skills (essential). You think in terms of domain-driven design, clean architecture and event-driven patterns. Cosmic Python is your comfort zone or you are eager to learn it.
• LLMs in production. You've built with large language models in real systems, not just experimented with them.
• Pedigree. You've graduated from a top engineering programme worked and worked at a company known for engineering excellence or thrived at an early-stage startup.
• Experience. 1–5 years is the sweet spot. Enough to have built something real, with the hunger to build something bigger.
• The stack we work with:
